With passion and dedication, Karen Fox has become one of the most recognized teachers within the yoga community throughout Indiana. A graduate of Indiana University, she has contributed in many ways to the popularity and appeal of yoga in Indianapolis. Married with two daughters, Karen is a wife and mother first, devoting most of her available time to yoga and the improvement and progression of The Yoga Studio.
Karen credits Barron Baptiste’s Power Yoga as the beginning of her yoga journey. Immediately tapping into this dynamic style of yoga, she was fortunate enough to take her first teacher training with Baptiste in 2004. That same year, Karen completed the 200 hour teacher training at Cityoga with Nikki Myers. In 2005, she met Jonny Kest, founder of the Center for Yoga in Michigan and trained with him for two years.
At the encouragement of friends and fellow yogis, Karen opened and co-founded The Yoga Center in Broad Ripple in 2007. The popularity of The Yoga Center grew until a second studio was opened at Clay Terrace in 2010.
Karen’s had many opportunities to study and train with a variety of gifted teachers and pursues her education regularly with additional teacher trainings including the completion of her 500 hour certification at Cityoga with Nikki Myers.
Karen continues to be inspired by Jonny Kest and the Center for Yoga in Michigan. She travels to Michigan frequently and has brought this unique style of Hot Vinyasa yoga to Indianapolis. She gives and receives inspiration daily as each and every student and teacher at The Yoga Studio plays an integral part in this community of yoga.
A note from Karen:
I have such deep gratitude for the eight limb path and the practice of yoga. I am thankful to be able to love what I do and share the practice with the thousands of students who come to The Yoga Studio. I would also like to thank all my support staff and teachers who have helped me along this incredible journey. I’m grateful for my family and friends who have given me unconditional love and support.
I am grateful for this incredible universe and every experience both pleasant and unpleasant for it has lead me to this path of service: sharing yoga with as many people as I can. Yoga can make such a positive difference in one’s life. The seeds have been planted and I invite you to experience yourself on a whole new level at The Yoga Studio.
